How to Perform Your Monthly Security System Test
NOTE: You will not be able to send zone test signals for any Glass Break Sensors, Smoke Sensors or Heat Sensors. If they need to be tested, you will have to call AKL Security Systems LLC.
To start, you will need your Brinks Account Monitoring Number ( It is located on the top right side of your monthly monitoring bill ) not your AKL Security Systems Customer Number.
You will also need your Security Codeword ( that you provided to AKL Security System LLC for the central monitoring company ).
With both pieces of information, you can now call Brinks Central Monitoring Station @ 1-800-447-9239.
Give them your name ( the name on the account ), monitoring number and your codeword.
Explain to them that you want to do a Complete System Test.
They will put your system in test mode and tell you to send zone signals and then hang up the phone.
You will then arm your system to the AWAY Mode. Once the system is armed you will need to set off the alarm by breeching each zone ( opening and closing each of the doors and walking past all the motion sensors ). Then return to the keypad and disarm the system. Your keypad will scroll through a list to show you what zones went into alarm.
Now you will need to call Brinks back and give them your name, monitoring number and codeword. Then tell them you want to check zone test signals that you just sent. They will tell you what zone signals that they received. That should match the zone signals that you sent. If not tell them, you will resend the zone signals the they didn’t receive. Then arm the system to the AWAY Mode and breach only the zone or zones that Brinks didn’t receive. Then call Brinks back to check for those zone signals. Repeat if necessary until they have received all the zone signals.
Once Brinks confirms they received all the zone signals that you sent have them take the system off test.
If you’re are a Business Account, you can send test signals from your Panic/Holdup Button the same way.
